Seventh Circuit

Judge Richard Cudahy, an active senior judge, was born in 1926 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and died September 22, 2015, at his home. He was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in 1979 by President Jimmy Carter. He graduated from West Point and Yale Law School. He served in the Office of Legal Advisor of the U.S. Department of State, as Chief Executive Officer of Patrick Cudahy, Inc., as the Chairman of the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, and a partner with the former firm of Isham, Lincoln and Beale. He was a visiting professor at Marquette University Law School, the University of Wisconsin, DePaul University College of Law, and George Washington University of Law.

Judge Cudahy served as the President of the Milwaukee Urban League, a trustee of the Environmental Defense Fund, President of the Law Club of Chicago, and Chairman of the International Human Rights Law Institute of DePaul University. He was Chairman of the Wisconsin Democratic Party from 1967-68 and was a candidate for Wisconsin Attorney General in 1968.

His colleagues mourn his passing.

the withdrawal instructions in light of the Supreme Court's recent decision
in Smith v. United States, 133 S. Ct. 714 (2013). The revised instructions are
